Katie Holcomb is co-founder and current Artistic & Managing Director of the Coalition Theater. Her love for comedic arts started at an early age and blossomed through her involvement with ComedySportz Richmond where she performed & taught for several years, before starting the RCC (now the Coalition Theater) with a close group of friends in 2009. Since then, she has performed and/or taught at comedy festivals in NYC, Austin, New Orleans, Boston, Toronto, Philadelphia, and beyond; learned from some of the best instructors in her field; and worked to empower her community through the power of improvisation. She believes improv teaches individuals the skills to express their unique perspectives, and encourages her students to let improv serve as a voice for the marginalized. She’s most proud of outreach such as partnering with Art 180 to bring improv to underserved youth, and her ongoing commitment to spotlight diverse performers and groups onstage.
